Derby City Soccer Banner

Derby City Soccer Academy Logo

The 2009 Derby City Soccer Academy and Coaching Seminar logo, created by Louisville artist George Taylor, combines iconic elements of soccer logos throughout the world to create a memorable and unique representation. In the traditional coat-of-arms style, the stylized badge presents four key images that represent our philosophy and approach:

64 – The number of members of the Academy Class of 2009, the number 64 indicates not just the exclusivity of those selected, it pays tribute to their heightened focus, attitude and effort.

The ‘Hotspur’ rooster  – This element is derived from the logo of the Tottenham Hotspur, one of England’s top Premier League teams and honors our tradition of educational partnership with the world’s top coaches and players.

Africa – The outline of the continent most threatened by disease, famine and political unrest, this element of the logo honors the unifying role played by the world’s favorite game, and reinforces our collective dedication to children’s health and fitness initiatives worldwide.

Bicycle-kick  – This element of a spectacular move is a direct tribute to all soccer players and honors the thrill the game provides for fans worldwide.
